When I was first introduced to Skinceuticals, I must admit that I didn’t have much expectations for it. Other than seeing it stocked in some aesthetic clinics that I’ve visited, this isn’t a brand much talked about in our Singapore beauty community. Being a beauty junkie, I decided to give Skinceuticals a fair trial nevertheless and see whether it was really as good as I was told…
I’ve incorporated Skinceuticals Serum 10 into my day routine. A dual antioxidant treatment that contains 10% L-Ascorbic acid and Ferulic Acid. Nothing too strong as it’s meant for Vit C beginners and those w sensitive skin, but you’ll feel abit of tingling sensation on your open blemishes (if any). Meant to be used only in the morning, you need to put sunblock after. A MUST else you might as well don’t buy this product.
Texture wise, it’s very watery and absorbs almost immediately. So you either be quick or you use one drop at a time for a section of your face. And please remember to wash your hands, it has this caffeine smell (some say sausage?) I cant put my finger to but will linger all day if I don’t wash after application :p I didn’t think much about it when I started using, only to have my facial therapist at J’s Medi Spa commented that my skin looks much radiant than the previous treatment. That’s when I slowly realize my skin indeed looks less dull and much more glowy in the morning! It’s like the CNP Laboratory Invisible Peeling Booster I talked about ages ago. Takes awhile to see the effect but definitely worth it.
It’s also suppose to also reduce visible signs of premature aging such as fine lines, wrinkles and brown spots but I cannot attest to it la. Give me like 20-30 more years maybe. The shelf life is pretty short though, 3 months and it needs to be chucked – else the efficacy may not be as prominent. But I do hope to upgrade to C E Ferulic eventually, since it is slightly stronger~
For someone with acne-prone skin and constantly bugged with monthly hormonal breakouts, Skinceuticals Blemish + Age Defense has fast become a favorite acne treatment mine! This acid blend combines 2% dioic acid with an optimal alpha- and beta-hydroxy acid formulation is said to reduce the formation of acne, decongests clogged pores, while improving the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and uneven skin tone.
Unlike any of the acne treatments I have tried, this lightweight, oil-free serum absorbs lighting fast into my skin too! I have used this for at least a month (every night without fail) before I started seeing visible effect of how those pesky bumps disappear within 2-3 days – which is a relief for me. On problematic skin days, I do use it in the morning as a spot treatment too! Ideal for acne-prone, oily, combination, and aging skin types, this acid blend will definitely be too strong for those with sensitive skin as even my skin is sometimes left feeling flushed after using…
Though that is when my Skinceuticals Phyto Corrective Gel comes into play~ Optimal for sensitive or problematic skin, contains anti-inflammatory cucumber and anti-bacterial thyme to help soothe and calm irritated skin. It also doubles up as an oil-free hydrator and reduces post-treatment redness too!
I always use this light oil-free gel straight after Blemish + Age Defense to help soothes the redness, and I can really feel the difference whenever I apply it! I tend to layer my Skinceuticals products as they feel akin to water and absorbs into my skin immediately without feeling greasy or heavy.
I was also told that the Phyto Corrective Gel will help diminish the appearance of brown spots and promote a clear, fresh-looking complexion.. that is something I can’t attest to for now as I have yet to notice much difference since pigmentation takes a much much longer period to fade, especially when I’m much older and my skin no longer recover as quick as it used to. I have however noticed that my skin has started looking much more radiant and healthier ever since I started using the above trio religiously 🙂
When my skin requires, I’ll include SkinCeuticals H.A. Intensifier as the final serum step of my evening routine before I move on to my moisturizer to seal it all in. Ideal for all skin types, this is basically a multi-beneficial corrective serum proven to amplify skin’s hyaluronic acid levels. The texture of this serum was surprisngly thick (as compared to the ones above) but still work well in absorbing super quickly into my skin with no sticky after-feel. Whenever needed, I use them both day and night for long lasting texture, and was improved to see my skin more plumped up and smoother.
SkinCeuticals H.A. Intensifier actually contains a high concentration of pure hyaluronic acid (thus the namesake) with interesting botanical extracts of licorice root and purple rice to support skin’s hydration and improve skin texture. I won’t say much of the effects on fine lines as I haven’t reached that stage where it’s visible yet, but overall, I do appreciate the improvement in hydration level on my otherwise dry skin after using the serum. I’ll most likely follow up on this again at my quarterly beautyempties review – that’s how much I’m loving it! x
