Hey kitties, it’s been awhile since I’ve talked about aesthetics as I haven’t been particularly adventurous after my wedding. Not that I have let myself go for I’m still been going for monthly facial treatments and visiting Dr GL every two months to deal with my acne problems – which is a never-ending cycle -..- And you know, with acne comes acne scars… something that used to take one week to heal now takes months! There’s no denying that my skin is aging.
So it came as no surprise when I was invited to try out DiscoveryPICO, the second generation of picosecond lasers and is the most innovative medical laser available in the market today. It not only addresses skin problems such as melasma, sun spots, age spots, freckles, but even birthmark and unwanted tattoo.
For myself, I wanted to try out PICO toning by DiscoveryPICO as it helps to address problems of various pigmented lesions and acne scars, making the skin look brighter and smoother. I choose Prive Aesthetics as I have confidence in them after going through the Prive’s Bridal “I DO” package before my wedding last year 🙂 So here I am getting my face cleanse…
… before getting my skin thoroughly analysed to better understand my skin condition and if I’m suitable for PICO!
Results were super quick and it was reassuring to note that my skin is generally in good condition other than potential sun pigmentation caused by my younger years out in the sun 24/7 without applying sunblock -..- Lucky for me, that’s just what PICO does~
The very PICO toning by DiscoveryPICO machine! I was quite intimidated by it initially, despite having a high tolerance of pain, as no numbing cream nor cooling gel will be applied on my skin – which is quite unusual for a laser treatment.
And here we go guys! Just a headsup that the massive black tube was blowing cold air to help “relief” the pain, so it was thankfully not as painful as I would have imagined it to be. Except for sensitive areas, esp along the hairline, I find the overall process bearable and would give it maybe a 3-4/10 at most? Though then again, even the doctor could tell my pain tolerance is high, so it really varies on each individual.
Extra attention was focused on my chin area as I was suffering from acne scarring and was hoping that this treatment would help escalate the healing process.
Said acne scars as mentioned; and well, here’s how I look like right after my PICO toning! Zero downtime and relatively low maintenance afterwhich, just remember to apply sunblock and moisturize regularly like you would after all laser treatments. I like to carry a mist around as I find my skin slightly drier than usual after the session.
All in all, I went for two rounds of PICO toning as I couldn’t see much difference on the first round. It’s definitely not a one shot miracle, and in my opinion, you won’t see much visible changes unless your skin is in quite a bad state to start with. For my case, 2 sessions wasn’t enough and I couldn’t see visible changes for my skin, except a slight lightening on the acne scar – which kinda explains why I didn’t take a before/after shot as I couldn’t capture any. But I do believe that as per all laser treatments, it will take at least 3 rounds to see proper changes like my IPL treatment last year. What are your thoughts guys; anyone tried PICO with visible results so far? x
