First thing first, it was never my intention to shop up a storm in HKG. Still feeling freaking broke from our barely completed reno, I wasn’t really in the mood to shop…
But the thing is, I have been eyeing this particular caramel milk tea shade ever since I laid eyes on them at @mintyvintage post (pic c/o of her too) 😍 A perfect shade for my super dark wardrobe and occasional white… so on and off I have been looking out for it with the help of Amanda’s regular updates.
Before I flew off to HKG, Amanda was telling me that our local Chanel stores have a closely similar shade in a medium – instead of the mini rectangle I was looking for, and it costs $7090. *faints* I wasn’t willing to part with so much money on something I wasn’t specifically looking for in the first place… sooo nope~
When I landed in HKG, Kathy asked us about our to-do-list.. so I decided to give it a gamble and suggested Chanel. After a year of on-and-off research, I kinda concluded that nude/brown shades are usually launched during Autumn season so being an opportunist, I rather take my chances and go “at least I tried” instead of regretting for never trying.
And so the five of us queued outside Chanel on a Friday night at Harbour City…
sure is a first!
sure is a first!
Right before we went in, Joyce and I were agreeing that if there isn’t any particular bag we eyed, we must at least get matching Chanel earrings to commemorate our annual trip! 💪🏻
Unfortunately, there wasn’t much nude selections in the store.. and the ones available aren’t in the particular design I was looking for. Until one of us (was it Joyce or me, I forgot) spotted a Chanel Boy and started playing around with it..
Playing around with two different sizes but feeling undecided about it… cuz it wasn’t the particular shade I was looking for and I never really intended to purchase my first Chanel Boy in any other color but a classic edgy black.
In the end, Joyce shopped up a storm while I was left undecided over what I want in the store. After thinking over it with a long discussion with the husband and some input from Amanda, I decided we’re going to make a purchase first thing in the morning. So Joyce and I really woke up super early with a mission while Kako had a snooze fest 😝
Unboxing back at our airbnb so please pardon the poor quality lighting. Anyway, it does really feel heartening to fulfil my goals I set when I was in uni.. it was quite simple and basic really:
1. Graduate and get a job
2. Get married by 27/28
3. Finally get back my overdue PR
4. Buy a house
5. Only when all of the above is achieved, get a Chanel before I turn 30
I suppose you can say that my 20s is all about achieving financial and emotional independence as much as possible?
Somehow this pic didn’t come out as pretty? Lol. Oh wells..
Can you guess what it is?
Or at least the size?
Tadah! Chanel Boy in a yummy milk tea shade!!
Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagine merging two lusts into one bag. I had all the intention to purchase a caramel mini rec and a black chanel boy… and ended up saving my wallet. Lol!!
On me, hiding from the sun 😝. The color changes here and there so I can’t really pinpoint its exact shade, so milk tea it is. Much more pinkish than what I have intended it to be, but still equally versatile and gorgeous.
Husband was commenting that we look like partners in crime, and all that’s missing is our matching dress colors 😹 x
