It could be my age that’s finally catching up on me, or perhaps just the subconscious stress that I have been exposing myself too.. My skin had not been at its best condition lately. Think dry skin, breakouts from clogged pores and hormones, not forgetting the pesky nodules and acne scars that now take forever to heal! Thankfully, it’s about time I resume my facial journey and I’ll be working closely with J’s Medi-Spa this round.
If you haven’t already know, the above picture is the most iconic spot of J’s Medi-Spa. It’s where you get your hair treatment done and just entering the room is enough to soothe my senses.. imagine getting a hair spa to such a relaxing (and instagrammable) view!
Before we being, let me do a quick introduction on this hidden gem at Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Level. Located at level 3, J’s Medi-Spa offers various pampering treatments such as hair services, nail services, medi spa and more. With a holistic approach to beauty, they pride themselves in using cutting-edge machines and pharmaceutical- grade products to ensure an all-rounded beauty treatment at one location only.
I personally find it a thoughtful gesture upon knowing that they have taken extra efforts not only for their customers to chillax at, they even dedicated a special place for our better halves to wait comfortably at. My husband was initially patiently waiting in the car for me, but ended being ushered up by me, knowing he will be in good hands up at the spa instead 🙂
Now this shall soon be my most frequent corner at J’s Medi-Spa henceforth! Skinceuticals became a fast favourite of the owner, June, after she noticed visible effects on her skin. A clinical skincare brand that aims to improve skin health, Skinceuticals is used by dermatologists, plastic surgeons, and medi-spas for daily homecare and to complement aesthetic procedures – something you’ll start to notice if you’re a frequent goer to any of the listed. Then we have me, being a skincare fanatic and self-proclaimed aesthetics veteran, how can I not be intrigued by the brand right?
I was instantly wow-ed when I first peeped into my treatment room. Doesn’t it just look like a scene from a sci-fi movie where everything just looks so white and clean? 😡 With soft neon lights to illuminate the room, I was ready to sink myself and immerse in what is to come~
And so it began as the lights turned into a cool blue… I was surprised and impressed when my facial treatment got started with a hot towel to wipe my legs and arms clean before a mini stretching session to unwind my tired self. Am I in heaven?
As mentioned earlier, my skin is currently going through a problematic stage so my facial therapist recommended on HA Moisture Clarity Treatment which uses hyaluronic acid and vitamin B5 to quench my skin and provide superior skin hydration & brightening. There is extraction in this treatment too and boy was she meticulous! I have never had someone dedicate so much time to my blackhead-ridden nose, yet not a single one escaped her clutches.
We finished the facial with a hydrating mask and a thorough massage not just on my shoulders, but arms too. Though it was close to two hours, I never wanted it to end and leave my little haven. I have had my fair share of facial treatments before and I must admit, none ever felt as luxurious as this! If you’re keen, perhaps I’ll share more of the treatments I’ll be trying in due time?
Before I end, let’s talk skincare! It’s only fair to properly assess a brand not just from the monthly medi-spa visits, but from a homecase point of view too. The first to be included into my routine is SkinCeuticals H.A. Intensifier that’s ideal for all skin types. Basically a multi-beneficial corrective serum proven to amplify skin’s hyaluronic acid levels, the texture of this serum was surprisngly thick (as compared to the ones I’m used to) but still work well in absorbing super quickly into my skin with no sticky afterfeel. I have been using them both day and night for long lasting texture, and was improved to see my skin more plumped up and smoother.
SkinCeuticals H.A. Intensifier actually contains a high concentration of pure hyaluronic acid (thus the namesake) with interesting botanical extracts of licorice root and purple rice to support skin’s hydration and improve skin texture. I won’t say much of the effects on fine lines as I haven’t reached that stage where it’s visible yet, but overall, I do appreciate the improvement in hydration level on my otherwise dry skin after using the serum. I’ll most likely follow up on this again at my quarterly beautyempties review – that’s how much I’m loving it! x
