Mary Kay Botanical Effects Skin Care Line Review

It’s been awhile since I’ve last introduced an entire skin care range! And since I’m rolling around feeling so bloated from all the CNY feasting, I reckon I might as well talk about Mary Kay’s newly revamped Botanical Effects® Skin Care line! I was rather intrigued by this range was it is formulated with two key ingredients: Dragon fruit and Aloe Vera extract – to fight free radicals while keeping the skin’s moisture barrier in check respectively. But you’ll b surprised to know that this range actually smells more of peach and that it is suitable for dry/sensitive skin too!

Botanical Effects Gel Cleanser – SGD 28

Other than the previous two main ingredients, coconut is also found in this Botanical Effects Gel Cleanser to deeply cleanse and even dissolves all traces of oil. The gel glides through my skin effortlessly and turns to foam when cleansing, I like how it does not leaves my skin feeling squeaky clean/dry.

Botanical Effects Exfoliating Scrub – SGD 28

Add the scrub morning to your routine, right after the cleansing gel two or three times a week. Botanical Effects Exfoliating Scrub helps exfoliate so as to remove dead and dull skin, especially from your pores. I appreciate how gentle and mild the exfoliating beads are, yet still working its magic to leave my skin feeling smooth after each usage.

Botanical Effects Toner – SGD 28

I personally tend to skip toner in the morning (jumping straight to a face mist) and just use it at night to double cleanse my skin, which is extremely important on days I’ve make up on. I need to ensure that all traces of makeup are removed before I can proceed on to my next step. Botanical Effects Toner does just that! It leaves my skin feeling hydrated as well.

Botanical Effects Moisturizer – SGD 30

Next, comes the moisturising part. Apparently Mary Kay have two types in this range and I’m going to talk about Botanical Effects Moisturizer where you can use it twice a day, or once. Depending on your skin type, if you have oily skin, I would reckon you use it at night as it can be slightly too heavy for our humid weather. However, this quick-absorbing gel does not feel greasy and moisturizes for up to 12 hours! Face is left feeling plump and cool; it has got to be my favorite product in Mary Kay Botanical Effects Skin Care range 🙂

Botanical Effects Moisturizer SPF 30 – SGD 25

Last but not least, for the lady who takes her sunblock seriously.. Botanical Effects Moisturizer SPF 30 can be quite handy as it provides sun protection on top of the forementioned full 12 hours of moisturization in one simple step. Good for travelling too! Do note that this moisturiser has a much thicker/creamy consistency as compared to the former, so it takes slightly longer to absorb into the skin and has a sticky white cast to it. That’s quite a downer I feel, especially when I’ve been skipping makeup to work recently.. I personally would prefer using this in cold climate than our humid country, to avoid the risk of breaking out tbh. But if you need it for those dry/winter climate, this will be perfect in protecting your skin from dryness :)x
