I wasn’t sure on what kinda jewelry I should be going for for my wedding, only knew I wanted something minimalist. And since I have struck off the redundant dowry thingy, 四点金 was obviously out of the picture too~
Well until I went into Choo Yilin that is.
Located at Joo Chiat, I always walked pass this beautiful shop to buy some fresh flowers from The Bloom Room, and it didn’t occur to me what a hidden gem this place is!
For those who aren’t very familiar with this local brand, Choo Yilin launches ready-to-wear collections inspired from heritage and conservation stories. Their specialty is of course Type A Jadeite with vibrant colors gemstones for the modern and chic look to cater to the younger crowd.
The recently launched sakura collection was without a doubt the highlight of the day. Intricate blooms weaving around their signature jade, I will bring you through their first Sakura collection this year that consists of this beautiful Sakura Garland necklace.
It comes in two color options: Rose Gold with Rhodolite Garnet gemstones (shown above) or White Rhodium plating with London Blue Topaz gemstones. I ultimately picked on the latter due to my preference for cool colors.
Followed by these dainty Sakura Amethyst Floral Studs that looks so sweet and feminine 😍
But the jade bangles really caught my attention. I have never once considered looking for one to match my qipao/kwa (still unsure which) because I never know of such beautiful options. Laying eyes on them would later prove really bad for my wallet 😭
This Sakura Trio Bangles will be a good match of the necklace, and can be customized to 9k or 18k gold. Definitely an heirloom worth investing in!
The ring and earrings are the second collection to the Sakura range which I find would be a good match to the necklace I’ve picked!
Well, actually I chose the earrings in the end to match my necklace. Both are in the same shade, which I find would be versatile even on my wedding gown or daily outfits.
Chancing upon this made me regret my decision to do away with 四点金. Who would have thought they would be so elegant and modern?!
With 4 touches of gold in the collection, I find it a really lovely way to add a touch of tradition without being too boring and old-fashioned. Something brides-to-be can consider?
So I started trying out different bangles to fit my tiny arm. Isn’t the middle one totally gorgeous? 😍
The selection begins! Remember that technically it’s suppose to be sitting on your arm, not your wrist.
Here’s from the bamboo (left) and sakura (right) collection.
My favorite design from the Peranakan collection!
Actually, I have always wanted to don a nyonya kebaya and do a pre-wedding shoot at either Joo Chiat or Melaka for I have always love the culture and heritage behind it. Good excuse since Akira is a baba too! But it seems impossible to rent one, so I have to scrape the idea off 😔
My picks for the actual day, what do you think? I am still thinking of the darker version though, looks classier and more peranakan style?
Bagged a little surprise home! x
